Tig welding functions at Fronius Artis

Optimised gas protection manually and automatically

The welding machine helps you work smarter. Depending on the set welding current, Artis automatically calculates the optimal gas post-flow time. This optimizes both the gas protection for the welding end and the tungsten electrode, ensuring a high-quality result.

Trigger mode off: Automatic shutdown

When the welding work is finished, the welding machine automatically turns off the power after the arc length is changed in a specific way.

TAC function: Up to 50% time savings when tacking materials

Pulse currents are used to vibrate the melt baths. This makes it easier to bond components together and shortens the bonding time. There is little or no discoloration at the bonding points.

Pulse/Tac display function curve

On the control panel, the function curve can be expanded with two extra parameters: “Pulse” and “TAC”.

Tig pulse function: Welding even with thin sheet thicknesses

Pulse welding is mainly used when welding in confined spaces or when welding very thin materials. The setting range for pulsation is 1 Hz to 990 Hz.

Touch HF ignition

Touch HF ignition is required, for example, when a component is difficult to access and requires the use of a torch without a trigger. The machine senses contact with the workpiece and ignites the arc exactly at the desired location after the specified time.

Tig torch with multiple application possibilities

Depending on your wishes, our TIG torches can be used with standard function, Up/Down function, Long Trigger or potentiometer.

Spot and interval welding: Repeated weld joints

In spot welding mode, you can set welding points at regular intervals. With the freely adjustable interval interruption time, work can instead be continued as interval welding.

MMA Welding Functions at Fronius Artis

MMA Pulse welding

The MMA pulse mode provides better welding characteristics in confined spaces and has higher gap bridging ability. In addition, this method is ideal for standing vertical welding, making it particularly useful in challenging working situations.

Hotstart Function: Arc ignition

The HotStart function facilitates electrode ignition by temporarily increasing the current for a fraction of a second. This function ensures a smooth start and improves the user experience with every weld.

Celulose Electrodes

Artis offers optimal properties for welding with CEL electrodes. To achieve this, the machine uses a higher open circuit voltage and improved ignition power, ensuring stable and efficient welding.

Dyanmics

When welding with basic electrodes, the material transfer occurs in the form of large drops at low current (underload), which increases the risk of the electrode sticking. To counteract this, the welding machine increases the current for a fraction of a second before adhesion occurs. The electrode burns freely, which effectively prevents adhesion.

Anti-Stick

In the event of a short circuit (electrode sticking during MMA welding), the welding current is interrupted. This prevents both annealing of the electrode and the occurrence of major welding defects, which contributes to a more reliable welding process.

Sophisticated Operating Concept

Clear function display and intuitive navigation using the push-and-turn knob. Over 10 parameters can be selected directly and without a background menu.
Push-And-Twrt Button
Used to quickly and easily set the most important welding parameters directly on the function curve.
Gas Test Button
Provides the ability to check gas flow and clear the hose package, especially after a longer inactive period.
Button For Setting The Welding Process
Allows you to choose between 2-step, 4-step and electrode mode, ensuring flexibility for different needs.
Welding Process Status Indicator
Clearly displays current status for 2-step, 4-step and electrode mode, making it easy to keep track of the process.
Individually Adjustable
Offers the ability to customize various settings directly in the background menu, which increases user-friendliness.

For Today, Tomorrow And Beyond

400V Protection Circuit

The protection circuit effectively prevents damage if the device is connected to a power source with too high a voltage. This function ensures safe operation and protects the machine from unexpected power fluctuations.

PFC—Power Factor Correction

Power factor correction ensures sinusoidal power consumption, optimizing the use of available power. Only the necessary amount of energy is taken from the mains, saving resources. In addition, PFC enables the use of longer mains cables, improves generator connections and delivers higher welding currents. All this without the risk of tripping the automatic circuit breaker.

Time-Out/Standby Mode

After a preset period of time, the power module automatically turns itself off. The device then enters standby mode to effectively minimize energy consumption and save resources.

Low Power Cconsumption

Thanks to the optimized power module design and power factor correction technology, the Artis 170/210 consumes up to 40% less energy than comparable competitor products, while delivering the same high output power, combining efficiency with performance.
